The Montana Neighbor Award
Montana is blessed with a wealth of private landowners who for years have practiced outstanding stewardship by conserving habitat for fish and wildlife. For years hunters and anglers have benefitted from the friendliness of many ranchers and farmers who have opened their lands to the general public for fishing and hunting. As times change and newcomers move to Montana, values for land shift, so maintaining traditional landscapes and recreational opportunities on private lands becomes more challenging. Montanans can be thankful that across the state local initiatives have emerged, often led by private landowners, that seek to bring people together to develop common visions to protect the land and outdoor traditions.

The Montana Neighbor Award annually recognizes landowners who have gone above and beyond to practice good conservation, work with recreationists and help bring people together to ensure the state's open lands, wildlife and traditional values endure.
